Many of us are about to make the yearly pilgrimage to SHRM’s annual conference. If you’re like me, when it comes to mega conferences you’re sporting both trepidation (bland sessions that blur, acres of eager sales people, too many brochures…) and genuine enthusiasm. What am I excited about? Some truly bright spots to look forward to, brought to you by Monster and SHRM.
1. Great Thinking, Served Daily
There are roughly 150 sessions featuring some 200 speakers, including keynoters like Al Gore (who I guess has a little extra time on his hands now…) and Steve Forbes. But how to sift through it for the best stuff and make sense of it all? Beginning today, MonsterThinking will become our hub for reporting on news from SHRM 2010, with links to video interviews, blog posts, live Twitter streams and more.
We’ve also got two great “guest reporters” weighing on the day’s most interesting ideas and advice: Bloggers Jennifer McClure (@CincyRecruiter) and Ben Eubanks (@beneubanks) will join Monster’s Social Media street team, bringing the front line online. (Disclosure: Monster is providing conference passes.)
2. Great Questions, Smart People
Monster has partnered with the team at SmartBrief to present a co-branded series of video interviews with senior executives from global brands attending SHRM, discussing top of mind issues with HR leaders worldwide. Streaming video interviews will appear on MonsterThinking throughout the 4-day event, and will be archived for future viewing on our YouTube Channel.
3. The Society Goes Social
Seems only fitting for people in the people business. SHRM is embracing social engagement in some new ways. SHRM’s Curtis Midkiff is wrangling people and content as @shrmsocmedguy on Twitter. There’s an official SHRM10 TweetUp, hosted by Monster and SHRM, Monday, June 28 from 6pm- 9pm. Click here to view event details or to RSVP.
Can’t attend the TweetUp? No worries, be a part the conversation on Twitter: #monstersocial #shrm10.
4. Augmented Reality Meets Real World Advice
Monster’s “official” booth number is #2331 (stop by and say hello), but unofficially, it’s definitely “Booth 2.0,” with some very cool next-gen web elements. We’ve encoded the backs of SHRM event passports with an augmented reality sequence, featuring an animated introduction to 6Sense™ semantic search by Trump when placed in front of one of our web cam stations.
Nicole Williams, author of career advice best seller “Girl on Top” will be sharing some unorthodox advice with recruiters based on how job seekers see the candidate experience. She’ll be at both the TweetUp and the Monster booth. And she’s signing books, too.
5. Be There Without Being There
In addition to content posted on MonsterThinking, you can follow the conversation via Monster’s Social Media street team on Twitter with #monsterlive #shrm10. Follow live Tweets from @MonsterWW, @Monster_WORKS and catch video interviews on our SHRM playlist on Monster’s YouTube channel.
After the event, we’ll be keeping the conversation going here and across all of our social networks.
What can we create for you? We’d love to hear about what sessions and people you think sound most interesting, and we’ll do our best to bring it back here. See you in San Diego (or the social platform of your choice)!
