Tweet Jean Christenson, HRIT director for CH2M HILL, says first impressions are critical to the candidate experience. “It’s like when you meet a person for the first time, right? That … initial impression, it means everything.” A visit to an online HR portal is often the first glimpse most candidates will get of a company, [...]

And it should because the way organizations integrate new employees affects long-term productivity, retention, morale and your bottom line. With a bit of creativity and fresh ideas, you can make the transition easier on [...]

Tweet Today, Monster is hosting our first Innovation Day in New York City to address the emerging concerns of the global skills gap in our workforce and its implications on recruitment. It’s hard enough to be unemployed without the added obstacle of discrimination based on, ironically, being unemployed. Companies that exclude the unemployed from hiring consideration are missing important realities about talent and how to find the best matches for their organizations. There’s a pretty good chance that if you’ve read an HR or recruiting blog, you’ve read something by Lance Haun. A prolific (and profound) writer, his byline’s nearly as ubiquitous on talent management blogs as the terms “thought leadership” or “influence.” Beyond the buzzwords, by any definition, it’s clear that Lance epitomizes both concepts, his name on a very short list of our industry’s most influential thinkers and writers. That’s why when we saw Lance’s latest project, we wanted to get a little more insight on what it takes to be an “HR Star” from someone who’s been there before.

After all, the headlines were filled with news involving promotions (Tanil Cantil-Sakauye’s nomination as the California Supreme Court Chief Justice), transfers (Tony Hayward, Chris Paul) and workforce integration (the upcoming nuptials of Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezinsky).
While these stories dominated the mainstream press, this week’s Monster 5 for Friday showed that HR doesn’t need to make national news to make us pay attention to the business of people; insightful writing and thought provoking content do just as well.
